2021 Blackwork Stitch-A-Long

So, next year's SAL is now live, and it is again completely FREE.

There are a few things I considered when designing the 2021 SAL, all based on feedback I had read on the Facebook group. (The 2020 SAL was the first SAL I decided to run, so big thanks to everyone who has participated in the Facebook group as it has taught me a lot!)

The feedback I considered was...

  1. The 2020 SAL will be expensive/a pain to frame
  2. A square design would be much easier, and therefore cheaper, to frame.
  3. A design to match this year would be great so they could be displayed next to each other.
  4. You all seemed to like the size of each weekly section.
  5. The large print on one page was preferred (e.g. like weeks 34-38)
  6. Stick to symmetrical designs to avoid alternates, and for goodness sake do not do anything that may look like clowns 😂

This may divide opinion, but in order to satisfy the 3rd point above, the weekly squares and rectangles are back, but if I do a 2022 SAL I will probably move away from this as I do feel it is a little repetitive.

So, with all of this in mind, I have come up with the following:

There are 2 layouts to choose from, one square and one rectangular (you are welcome to stitch both if you wish)

It doesn't matter which layout you choose, the weekly 'filler section' will be the same (apart from 2 weeks when there will be a filler for each layout)

Both layouts use the same colours overall, but not the same colour each week.

The Full Colour List can be downloaded here for you to tick off the colours you have/need.

I am also, this year, offering thread packs which provide all the threads you need for the whole sal. Please click here to view them.

This is a square design, and stands well on it's own, but will give lots of opportunity for creating your own borders and personal touches again, so please consider this when cutting your material.
STITCHES: 153 x 153 (please note that if any side of a 'stitch' contains backstitch, my software counts this as a stitch, so this is really 151 x 151 actual stitch squares)
On 14 count this measures: 10.79" x 10.79" (26.97 x 26.97cm)
On 16 count this measures: 9.44" x 9.44" (23.6 x 23.6cm)
On 18 count this measures: 8.39" x 8.39" (20.98 x 20.98cm)
On 20 count this measures: 7.55" x 7.55"  (18.88 x 18.88cm)
On 22 count this measures: 6.87" x 6.87"  (17.16 x 17.16cm)

This has the same dimensions as the 2020 SAL so you can display them next to each other as a pair, but the boxes have all moved around a little

STITCHES: 93x186 (please note that if any side of a 'stitch' contains backstitch, my software counts this as a stitch, so this is really 91 x 184 actual stitch squares)
On 14 count this measures: 6.5" x 13.15" (16.25 x 32.86cm)
On 16 count this measures: 5.69" x 11.5" (14.22 x 28.75cm)
On 18 count this measures: 5.06" x 10.23" (12.64 x 25.56cm)
On 20 count this measures: 4.55" x 9.2" (11.38 x 23cm)
On 22 count this measures: 4.14" x 8.37" (10.35 x 20.91cm)

Each week (wednesdays) that weeks filler section will be released, and your Layout plan will tell you where this goes.  Don't worry, there are no floating sections, so you do not need to stitch the 'boxes' ahead of time, they will always be next to a previously stitched week to reduce counting errors on both layouts.

The last week will be released on the 29th December.

Facebook is the best way to join in with this SAL, but I do understand that not everyone uses this forum. All of the files will also be available on my website, however you will need to log into a (free) Customer Account to access them.

I hope you enjoy it.

PS. In case it wasn't clear, the SAL will be 100% free again! However, if you wanted to 'buy me a coffee' it would be very gratefully received
